Odsonne Edouard has blasted back at his critics with a post on social media following his blistering hat-trick against Hamilton at Celtic Park yesterday.

The Frenchman started his season with a trio of goals as Celts mauled Accies 5-1. His post was apparently in response to Hoops legend Frank McAvennie who questioned his interest levels during pre-season, claiming he looked like he 'did not want to be there'.

He said: "When I watched Edouard the other day he looked a wee bit disinterested. Like he did not want to be there.

“Maybe he is just a big game player and he is just getting the minutes in. Maybe he needs crowds."

After Edouard hit his strikes, he immediately took to Twitter to shoot down McAvennie's claims with a cutting remark. He said: "Edouard doesn't seem interested ...", accompanied by a 'talking' emoji and three footballs to mark his hat-trick.

Fans loved the reaction and applauded their star man. One said: "What a lad," while another wrote: "The king has spoken." One commented: "Never leave." And a fourth responded: "I love you."
