A MAJOR employer in Dumbarton has committed to helping a musical organisation after renewing its sponsorship for a third year.

Chivas Brothers has announced it will continue to sponsor Helensburgh Music Society's annual concert series for a third year, with the money previously allowing the society to promote its five-concert series from October to March each year.

Increased investment in high-quality performers and publicising the concerts more widely has brought in many more concert goers from the local area, allowing audience numbers to increase.

Chivas Brothers chose to make the announcement of their sponsorship of the Helensburgh 2013/14 concert season at a piano recital by internationally renowned pianist, James Brawn last Saturday at the Victoria Halls. This concert was an extension to the music society's 2012/13 series, made possible by investing the revenue from increased ticket sales earlier in the season - proof indeed of the impact of the Chivas Brothers sponsorship. Employees of Chivas Brothers, who work at their facilities in West Dunbartonshire amongst others also benefit from the sponsorship as they receive free tickets, which are distributed by ballot. Jennifer Stevenson, communications manager at Chivas Brothers, said: "We are delighted to continue our support of Helensburgh Music Society, which is sure to be another fantastic concert season. As a major employer in the Dunbartonshire area, we strive to support local organisations and events that will benefit the communities where our employees live and work. The fact that our sponsorship has allowed Helensburgh Music Society to extend its concert season is testament to the success of the partnership."
