LEVENGROVE Park in Dumbarton was awash with activity as the annual Scottish Pipe Band Championships descended on the area. Around 25,000 people and spectators gathered to take in the performances from some of the top pipe bands from across the country.

There was a variety of activities and stalls available for people to browse and enjoy.

Dancers from the Sandra Lees School of Dance in Jamestown competed in the Highland dancing competition. For the first time West Dunbartonshire Leisure's Sports zone was on site offering a range of free activities and games. More than 140 pipe bands from across the UK, and as far away as Brittany were due to compete. Provost of West Dunbartonshire, and chieftain Douglas McAllister told the Reporter that it has grown into the area's most popular event with people travelling from all over the world to attend.
