Children at an Alexandria primary school had a magical morning when an acclaimed children’s author visited to give them a new study pack she has designed.

Angela H Proctor, author of the enchanting Thumble Tumble adventure series set on the Isle of Arran, donated the new novel study pack to youngsters at Bonhill Primary School last Thursday.

The school was the first in West Dunbartonshire to get the pack and it will now be delivered to all the others over the next month.

Angela said: “I had a magical morning visiting the amazingly talented Bonhill Primary.

“The school has always been very supportive of me and that’s why we wanted them to be the first school to get this pack.

“The pupils joined me in a crazy literary quiz before treating me to a visit to their fabulous library.

“I was once again blown away by their imaginative questions and excellent listening skills.

“I’m pretty sure I met at least one future author during my visit - so watch this space.”

Angela created the study pack in partnership with leading educational experts to ensure it met all the requirements for the Curriculum for Excellence and could help improve literacy around Scotland.

She added: “Literacy is a priority for all our amazing schools, but these are tough times and many are using dated materials to support activity because they just don’t have the budget. This breaks my heart.

“The imagination and creativity that inspires the future generations of authors, playwrights, poets and songwriters, is born from the inspiration and education we discover in our childhood.

“Indeed, my successful Thumble Tumble adventure series would never have been possible without the magical experiences I had at school as a child.”

Aimed at P4 to P6 pupils, the fun and engaging activities in the pack explore tools for reading, words and phrases, characterisation, listening activities, creating texts and more.
