COPS were tipped off by an anonymous caller that a woman was driving whilst disqualified.

Lee Ann Don was caught behind the wheel of a car on Brucehill Road in Dumbarton after she was banned at Dumbarton Sheriff Court a month prior.

At the hearing on July 25, fiscal depute Tiffany Chisholm told the court that police received an anonymous call on January 24 this year that Don was driving whilst disqualified.

When police attended her address on Beechwood Drive in Alexandria they noticed that the car's exhaust which was parked outside of her home was warm.

We previously told in December last year that the 41-year-old crashed into a brick wall in Renton whilst high on prescription drugs.

At the time she was warned by Sheriff Maxwell Hendry she could face jail if she offended again.

Don appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court this week for sentencing after pleading guilty to driving whilst disqualified and without valid motor insurance.

She also admitted to failing to give the identity of the driver of the vehicle to a chief constable of Police Scotland.

Stephen Maguire, defending, said: "I have discussed the [social work] report with her. Cutting to the chase there is a recommendation of a structured deferred sentence. Speaking to her she would engage with that process."

Sheriff Seith Ireland said: "I am satisfied with what I have read in the [social work] report. You are a suitable case for a structured deferred sentence."

Don was placed on a structured deferred sentence for three months with a review set for later this year.
